The Start of A Holiday Weekend !

Labor Day weekend, the last official weekend of summer . Even thought I love fall, I am sad to see the summer end. As I’ve mentioned before, I live in a lake community. More than half of my neighbors don’t live here year round. After this weekend is over, most of the homes are closed up . We get a few visits for fall leaf peeping, but by Halloween, most of the summer folks are long gone .

By the time I got home from work today, almost every summer home was hopping ! Families and friends all up for the last hurrah. But after Monday, the neighborhood be quiet again. Kind of sad. During the winter the neighborhood is like a ghost town.

Today at work was crazy busy. I was literally running all day ! I went in early to get some filing done uninterrupted , and got only half of it done. After work I got my hair cut and colored, and then went home and Matt and I decided to go out .

I am finally relaxing and unwinding after a long , busy day ! And I am more than ready for some time off !

Here is what I ate today:

Breakfast, I had some oatmeal with Kashi Cocoa Beach Granola , and a spoonful of chocolate peanut butter. I had my last banana too.

I took a few minutes out around 10:00 and had a nectarine.

By 11:30, I was feeling a little out of gas, so I had some edamame.

By the time lunch rolled around I was not hungry at all. I just wasn’t in the mood to eat anything, but I knew that I had things to do after work and that I probably wouldn’t get to eat dinner until late, so I ate anyway. I had a veggie salad with sunflower seeds and sesame sticks. An apple for dessert.

Matt and I went out to a few stores and decided to go out to eat. I wasn’t in the mood for anything in particular , so I told Matt to pick somewhere. He was in the mood for diner food. I had a veggies burger on whole grain toast, fries and coleslaw. I ended up eating only half the fries.
I was too full for dessert so I am done for tonight in the food department ! ( can you believe I am not going to eat dessert ????)
I think I am going to go to bed and read soon. I am totally beat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to wake up naturally tomorrow morning. NO ALARM CLOCK !!!!!!!!!!
Shred Update :

Day 4 /Level 1 : complete , plus 20 min. HIIT on the treadmill.

Weird. I wasn’t sore the first few days of this workout, but I am sore today. Not in a bad way, but I feel it more today than after the first day.

Today was a day of firsts …….. September 1st, first day back to work after a long and relaxing weekend, and of course , my first day of the SHRED !

I am not ashamed to admit it, I wasn’t sure about it . I was scared to death that I would commit to it, and then have to come back and say …… I just can’t keep up with Jillian !

I am so glad that didn’t turn out to be the case. I got up this morning, pushed play on the DVD player and got to work. It was tough , absolutely ! I do circuits , but not without any rest ! This was a non-stop , sweat pouring off me , heart pounding , totally challenging workout ! And I really LOVED it !!!!!

I love how she really stresses proper form , how she talks you through it all , and energized I felt when it was finished ! I was worried I would be too beat afterward to get in my 30 min. HIIT. As it turned out, I was feeling great and did my HIIT without any problem at all !!!

I can’t wait to try it again tomorrow ! It is exactly what I want in a workout : short and sweet but at the same time gives me the feeling that I did something !

Here are my food choices for today :

Breakfast : whole wheat toast topped with reduced fat peanut butter and a banana ……. surprisingly filling !

AM Snack : An apple and a granola bar. ( I ate half before I remembered to take a picture of it !)

Lunch : Left over tuna salad from yesterday’s lunch on a whole grain sandwich thin and some Special K Crackers.

PM Snack : Some edamame …… this time minus the pod !

Dinner : Kashi 7 Grain Rice Pilaf , and 4 oz. salmon along with a veggie salad topped with some reduced fat cheese.

Dessert : A repeat of last night , but photographed from a different angle ……. I’d been thinking about this all day …….. so good ! DC cake , iced with Dark Chocolate Dreams and a squirt of lite whipped cream.
Tomorrow we are throwing a bridal shower for a co-worker . After a lot of thought , I’ve decided to skip the shower goodies and bring my own lunch ……. But I think I will indulge in a small slice of cake !!!!!!
Off to bed for me ! I went to bed much to late last night , and I need to get some catch up sleep. I am trying to train myself to get up earlier so when I start my Sept. house sitting gig, it won’t be a shock to my system . I need to get in my workouts no matter what !

Back To Work :(

Well, real life resumed today after a wonderful day of sun and sand yesterday. I was wishing, as I got ready for work this morning that is was yesterday morning all over again …… sigh……

I forgot to set the alarm last night and ended up getting ups a little later this morning so I had to cut my workout session a little short . ( 20 min. short to be exact !) I did 20 min. HIIT on the spin bike, and did a 20 min. elliptical program. I also banged out a 10 min. Ab circuit.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I forgot to set the alarm. Must have been my subconscious mind trying to forget that I had to work for a living. No work no house and no beach rights ! When I got up this morning I had my usual PB toast. After my workout and my shower I had what was left of my box of Go Lean Crunch mixed into my oatmeal, with a spoonful of chocolate peanut butter.

I also had a hard boiled egg for some protein. (it looks gross close up like this , but it tasted fine)

Around 9:30 am I had some Fiber One mixed into yogurt, and an apple.

For some reason , by the time 11:00 am rolled around I was hungry again so I broke into my lunch and had a peach.

For Lunch (around 2 pm) I had a tuna salad sandwich, and wheat sticks.

Some time during the afternoon, one of our past resident’s family members brought us in the massive bag of M&M’s as a thank you . I was dying for something sweet so I allowed myself to indulge in just a little bit.

I poured myself as few in the bottom of this cup, and ate them slowly so I could savor them. The small portion really hit the spot !

For dinner tonight I had a nice raw veggie salad.

And a repeat of Sunday’s dinner. A 4 oz chicken breast and some left over Rosemary Potatoes. I ate dinner tonight out on the deck. Summer is almost over and I have decided to eat there as much as possible before weather changes make it impossible.

Dessert was once again , ” cookies and ice cream” made with Fat Free Frozen Yogurt and sugar free cookies.
I am glad that my first day back at work is over. Since today was my Monday, it was rough. Especially rough after the great day yesterday ! But I made it through !
Tomorrow night we are attempting to make up for the movie we missed Friday night and have my mother in law over for dinner and go to see Julie and Julia . I will be keeping tomorrow’s eating light because I am absolutely having popcorn with my movie !
I am off to bed, at least to read now, because tomorrow night will be a late one for me ! I hope everyone had a great Tuesday !

I Can’t Beleive It Is The End Of The Week Already !

Tomorrow is my favorite day of the week !!!!! I can hardly believe how quickly this week has flown by ! I honestly don’t have much to report .

Food has been good . I have tried the 3 meals a day, and was doing well until today when around 10:30 and I was hungry so I broke into my lunch and ate the fruit intended for my lunch ! That’s OK though as long as I am eat because I am hungry and nothing else !

Workouts have been great. Cardio cards are workout out well. Today I did 30 mins. of walking on the treadmill on an incline …….My butt is still screaming for mercy ! Great workout !

Other than that, nothing exciting or different. I am tired and ready to catch some ZZZ’s !

Vegetables…………… found love?

All of my life , I’ve hated vegeatables . I would do an iceburg lettuce salad , but that was about the extent of it. In the last few years I’ve branched out a little . I stated eating Spring Mix , cucumber salads a few years ago , and again ….. for a long time that was it !

Lately I have been “trying” new things. Guess what ? So far , what I’ve tried has been pretty good ! I now eat raw spinach as my salad veggie instead of lettuce. I’ve tried and loved butternut and spaghetti squash. I now love peppers and onions in my turkley meatloaf , anf this week the plan it to try sugar snap peas !

It is exciting to try things and find that I actually like them . I am proud of myself for staying open minded to them. I am noticing that I feel better because of eating them. What a difference I see in myself when I put “good food ” into it !

I hope that year from now , I be eating even more of them !

I am also proud of myself for trying new recipes. I never bothered to even try before. Now I try to fins a new on to try (and incorporate veggies in them) every week. I love the Hungry Girl recipes the best because I am able to take my fattening favs, and making them low cal and healthier !

This week I am so out of wack ! The weekend of erratic sleeping and totally being off schedual has left me feeling sluggish, and energy depleted . I am once agian going to bed early tonight in hopes to catch up a bit and feel better !

Getting enough sleep has been a huge part of my weight loss program. I like to go to bed early and wake up early, even on weekends. This weekend I was unable to stick to that , and in return , I feel like crap now ! Either that or I am just so anxious to be on vacation, that I just have can’t function ! Only 2 more work days ! That’s it !!!!!!

Headache !

After a great weekend, I was draggin today! Too many early mornings and late nights and a lot of hard work out in the yard equals a really bad first day of the work week ! I had a blog post idea all set for today , but I just can’t concentrate. By 2:00 pm today I had a massive headache and I am seariously getting to bed soon ! (it is only 6:30 pm but I feel like crap! ) I will be back tomorrow with a clear head ! What I need right now is some good quality sleep !!!

Night Time Muncher

I am a night time snacker, always have been and always probably will be. I can eat flawlessly all day long. Say no to all the at work birthday cakes and all the ordering out that everyone does there. I can do so well………..that is until about 8pm. Then I am a total mess. I am suddenly starving and eat so crappy that it pretty much negates an entire day of good eating. I am positively sure that nightime eating was insturmental to my (HUGE) weight gain pre- wedding.
But I found a solution to this problem. I changed my schedual completely. I usually leave my house for work at 6am. I like working out before work because I like to get it over with, I find if I wait until after work I am more apt to skip it. So because of my early workout time, I go to bed early. REALLY early ! I go to bed at 7-7:30pm every night. My husband thinks I am looney, but it is an effective defense against my night time eating problem ! I eat dinner and 2 hour or so later I go to bed and read, and I am out ! Sleeping 8 hours a night has canceled out the munchies !

They say that 7-8 hours of sleep is a very large part of the weight loss puzzle. So I use that as a great excuse. DVR is important too! I tape all my TV shows during the week, and watch them on Sunday afternoons when I get down time.
The reason I am mentioning my strange habit of early night and early mornings is to prove a point. If you think hard enough, and are really serious about the weight loss game, you can figure out ways around obstacles. You can find solutions to all your to all the problems that present themselves along the way no matter how long you’ve struggled with them. If you want it badly enough, if you are committed to it, nothing will stop you….and no matter how crazy your solution may sound to anyone else……as long as it works for you….who cares ?
